Provo, Utah — QB Zach Wilson starred once again as BYU rolled over an overmatched Louisiana Tech team 45-14 Friday night.
Zach Wilson did whatever he wanted all night, completing 24/26 passes for 325 yards and 2 touchdowns and adding 43 rushing yards and 3 rushing touchdowns. Through 3 games, Zach is 60/72 (83%) with 949 passing yards and 11 total touchdowns (6 passing and 5 rushing.
Gunner Romney was the main beneficiary of Zach’s night and had his third straight 100-yard game, finishing with 7 receptions for 101 yards and 1 touchdown. Tyler Allgeier led BYU on the ground with 93 rushing yards and 1 touchdown. BYU’s offense put up 515 total yards.
BYU’s defense gave up some garbage yards late, but held Louisiana Tech to 313 total yards and forced 2 interceptions. BYU’s 3-man rush generated nice pressure and bottled up the Bulldogs offense most of the night. True freshman Tyler Batty followed up his first career sack last week with 3 sacks tonight.
With the win BYU moves to 3-0 on the season and waits to see if they will move up in Sunday’s Top 25 polls.
BYU plays UTSA next Saturday afternoon in Provo.
