Fano had BYU in his final four along with Utah, Washington, and Oklahoma. He also had offers from Michigan, Wisconsin, Virginia, Nebraska, Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, Washington State, Oregon State, and Utah State. Fano is a local prospect who plays at Timpview High School.
Fano is a 4-star recruit and the 4th ranked recruit in Utah according 247 Sports’ own rankings and a 3-star recruit in their industry generated composite rankings. However you slice it, Fano is the highest rated signee in BYU’s class. He de-committed from BYU back in January, but BYU closed strong this time around to land the star edge rusher.
Fano is an elite pass rusher who could get major playing time at BYU early on. He racked up 115 tackles, 28 TFL, and 20.5 sacks in 12 games this season. As shown by his tackle numbers he also has great instincts to stop the run and can play in pass coverage. In short, he has all the tools to be a dominant player at BYU.
Fano is expected to first serve a Church mission before enrolling at BYU.
