Weber State kept it closer than expected, but BYU got contributions from multiple players in a 87-79 win over Weber State.

The Wildcats kept it within 5-10 points for much of the second half due to shooting close to 50%. Weber shot 10-29 from three compared to BYU’s 6-22.

BYU had 5 players in double figures led by 15 points from Matt Haarms, 13 from Brandon Averette and 12 from Alex Barcello. Caleb Lohner and Richard Harward each chipped in 11 points off the bench.

This wasn’t one of BYU’s better defensive games, but they had only 9 turnovers and had 21 assists versus Weber State’s 10.

With the win, BYU heads into conference play with a 9-2 record and firmly in the NCAA tournament discussion with wins over SDSU, Utah, St John’s, and Utah State. BYU is also 5-0 versus teams in the state of Utah.

BYU will have eight deserved days off before opening WCC play December 31 at Pepperdine.
