BYU Basketball’s New Year’s Eve game at Pepperdine has been postponed due to positive COVID-19 test results in the Pepperdine program.

The game was scheduled to be BYU’s first conference game of the season. The postponement is the first for BYU Men’s Basketball this year, following a fortunate stretch of 11 straight games being played (UConn was swapped with St John’s). BYU is one of the few teams in the country that has played 11 games this year and had zero cancellations/postponements during the non-conference portion of the schedule.
BYU’s game at San Diego on Saturday is still on for the time being. The Cougars swept the Torreros in the 2019-20 season, including a late alley-oop as Yoeli Childs finished a TJ Haws pass with under 30 seconds left. San Diego’s program has been on a COVID-related pause, but they are scheduled to play in their Thursday game at San Francisco before hosting BYU on Saturday.
