After a gutting loss to Coastal Carolina, BYU dropped to 14 in the AP Poll and 16 in the latest Coaches Poll released Sunday. BYU was number 8 in both polls last week. Coastal Carolina moved up to 11 in the AP Poll and 13 in the Coaches Poll.

BYU is 9-1 on the season and finishes its season Saturday night versus San Diego State, barring an additional game on December 19. BYU’s New Year’s 6 bowl hopes are all but dashed, but the Cougars can finish ranked in the AP top 25 poll for the first time since 2009 when they finished 12. BYU finished the 2011 season ranked 25 in the Coaches Poll and unranked in the AP Poll.

BYU plays San Diego State (4-3) Saturday night at 8:00 PM MST on ESPN2. The Aztecs are coming off a 29-17 win over Colorado State that broke a two-game losing streak. The low in Provo Saturday night in 19 degrees, so you would that would favor BYU over the team coming from San Diego.
