Yoeli Childs was dominant, TJ Haws was dishing out assists, and Zac Seljaas brought the spark as #17 BYU went to Malibu and beat Pepperdine 81-64 to clinch the two seed in the WCC tournament.
Yoeli Childs had a career high 38 points to go along with a season high 14 rebounds and TJ Haws Haws dished out 13 assists to lead BYU. The Waves made a conscience effort to stay on BYU’s three-point shooters — holding BYU to 7-14 shooting — but Yoeli feasted on the single coverage and could not be stopped the whole night.
BYU was down three points at halftime and didn’t really pull away until an Alex Barcello three pointer — his lone points of the night — with just over seven minutes left put BYU up by 11. Seljaas then scored BYU’s next 10 points to put the Waves away.
With the win, BYU has a triple bye to the WCC semifinals as the two seed, meaning BYU’s next game will be Monday, March 9 in Las Vegas.
