No. 2 BYU Volleyball won their 11th straight game, this time beating MPSF rival no. 7 UCLA in a 3-0 sweep at the Smith Fieldhouse (31-29, 25-12, 25-23).

The Cougars and Bruins dueled it out in a thrilling first set, with the Cougars surviving the battle and winning 31-29. The set featured seven set points for the Cougars, as they couldn’t close out the Bruins until very late.

The second set was all BYU though, who shot out to an early lead and went on to win the set 25-12.

The third set was another close one, with BYU winning on their second set point, 25-23.

BYU has been incredible this 2020 season, opening 11-0 with 9 of those wins coming against top 15 teams. BYU has only had to go to five sets once this season, with that resulting in a 3-2 win over no. 3 UC Santa Barbara.

Thursday night was all BYU as they dominated the Bruins. Gabi Garcia Fernandez had 13 kills and hit .429. Davide Gardini had 11 kills, while Zach Eschenberg also hit .500 with 7 kills.

BYU continues MPSF play on Saturday night against no. 8 Pepperdine at the Smith Fieldhouse. The game starts at 5 p.m. MT.
