The BYU Cougars will have a chance at revenge Saturday night when the San Francisco Dons will be in Provo. Back on Jan. 25, BYU lost at San Francisco, 83-82. It was a game where BYU gave up a 21-0 run, almost came back to win, but it was too little too late. San Francisco is BYU’s only loss in the WCC to a team that isn’t Gonzaga or Saint Mary’s.

BYU is 18-7 overall and still tied for second in the WCC (with Saint Mary’s) at 7-3. BYU last played on Thursday at Portland, where they won big, 85-54. Yoeli Childs (who struggled a bit in the first half) and Jake Toolson had 22 points each, and Alex Barcello contributed 17. It is also worth noting that for the first time this season, Gavin Baxter, who was out with a torn labrum, was dressed and warmed up. He almost came in, in the last couple of minutes of the Portland game, but Pope pulled him back at the last second. We may very well see Baxter in Saturday’s game.

San Francisco (16-9) last played on Thursday as well. That game was at San Francisco against Pacific and the Dons lost 60-48. The Dons are 5-5 in conference play which ties them with Santa Clara for fourth place in the WCC.
