Some surprising news in the BYU Football world came out Saturday morning as reports surfaced that BYU DE Devin Kaufusi entered the NCAA Transfer Portal. Cole Cubelic, a SEC Network analyst, first reported the news.

His father coached at BYU and his mother is currently the mayor of Provo, Utah.
Brother of Bronson and Corbin Kaufusi, who both play for the @nyjets
Jake Hatch of 1280 The Zone also reported the news shortly after.
Can confirm the reports that #BYU sophomore DE Devin Kaufusi has entered the #NCAATransferPortal FWIW. That’s a surprise development for #BYUfootball

Devin was entering his junior year after playing in 13 games as a sophomore and 12 games as a freshman. He was a rotational player at defensive end and totaled 15 tackles, 1 sack and 1 fumble recovery last season.
What makes this transfer so surprising is the family ties the Kaufusi family has with BYU. Devin’s dad, Steve Kaufusi, was a longtime coach at BYU. Older brothers Bronson and Corbin both starred at BYU and are currently with the New York Jets organization. He also has two cousins, Isaiah and Jackson, that currently are linebackers at BYU.
On the field, BYU is looking for playmakers at defensive end, so Devin leaves a void there as a guy that was expected to be a main contributor up front.
Regardless, hope Devin lands on his feet and succeeds at his next spot!
