After playing the last two seasons on the hardwood, BYU and San Diego State Men’s Basketball agreed to another home-and home series for 2020 and 2021. The 2020 matchup will be December 1 in San Diego and the 2021 matchup will be in Provo. The Aztecs gave BYU its lone home loss this past season and finished 30-2 with a #6 ranking in the AP and Coaches Poll.
The Aztecs lose some of their top players from last season — including MWC player of the year Malachi Flynn if he elects to stay in the NBA Draft — but return at least three starters and incoming transfers and recruits.
Additionally, BYU and Oregon appear to have a matchup next season in Portland. Duck Sports first reported the news in November and Oregon’s Athletic Communications Department confirmed the news with Vanquish the Foe. The game will be part of the Phil Knight Invitational and a double header that will also include Oregon State. Dates of the game have not been finalized. Neither BYU or the Phil Knight Invitational have confirmed the game yet.
If the Oregon game does indeed happen, BYU’s non conference schedule is shaping up nicely. The Cougars play Arizona State December 19 in Phoenix and also has games with Utah, Utah State, UVU, Weber State, Boise State, and the Junkanoo Jam versus Boston College, Tulsa, and George Mason.
