BYU is once again among the final schools for one of the nation’s top transfers.

BYU made Georgetown transfer Mac McClung’s final seven released Wednesday afternoon. Texas Tech, Auburn, Memphis, USC, Arkansas, and Wake Forest also made the cut.

The 6-foot-2 guard averaged 15.7 ppg last season as a sophomore after averaging 13.1 ppg as a freshman. ESPN has McClung as the number two-rated sit out transfer, although McClung will likely apply for a waiver to be immediately eligible. Below is ESPN’s Jeff Borzello’s analysis:

Played in 21 games before suffering a foot injury, but averaged 15.7 points and 2.4 assists while healthy. Freak athlete improved as a 3-point shooter during his sophomore campaign, and also had six games of 24 or more points.

Although McClung is a great player on the court, he became a social media sensation during high school. He has 740,000 Instagram followers due to his highlight reel dunks.

BYU should be considered a long shot to land McClung, but this coaching staff already proved once with Matt Haarms that they can go against the nation’s elite to land top talent.
