BYU Basketball continues to beef up its non-conference schedule as the Cougars are expected to play Oregon in Portland as part of the Phil Knight Invitational. Duck Sports first reported the news in November, and Jon Rothstein reported Thursday afternoon that BYU-Oregon will be part of a double header with Gonzaga-USC on Tuesday, November 17. In 2019, the Phil Knight Invitational had one game on ESPN and the other on ESPN2. One source associated with BYU told Vanquish the Foe late last week that the game was “likely” but not official yet.

The Ducks are coming off a Pac 12 regular season title and #13 ranking in the AP Poll. They lose All-American point guard Payton Pritchard, but return other key players and are expected to be a preseason top 25 team.

With the Oregon game, BYU’s non-conference schedule is closer to being finalized. Below are the games that we know about:

  • Oregon (Neutral, in Portland) — Nov 17
  • Junkanoo Jam (Bahamas): George Mason, Tulsa, Boston College — The Junkanoo Jam confirmed with Vanquish the Foe the dates of this are Nov 19-20. BYU announced in February that it would be a round robin event, but Junkanoo Jam officials told us Thursday that it is a 2-game, 4-team event. BYU is the #1 seed and will play #4 George Mason with Boston College and Tulsa on the opposite side of the bracket.
