Troy is a member of the Sun Belt conference and is coming off a 5-7 season. Offensive Coordinator Ryan Pugh was BYU’s Offensive Line Coach in 2018 before taking the OC position at Troy in 2019.
Troy isn’t an opponent that moves the needle much, but it’s another game for BYU and keeps the hopes for playing a season alive. At this point, BYU will take any games it can get as it tries to be the lone FBS team out west playing football.
BYU’s 2020 schedule now consists of the following teams:
9/7 - at Navy
9/26 - vs Troy
10/16 - vs Houston
11/21 - vs North Alabama
BYU’s remaining options for opponents include Army, Liberty and teams from the AAC, Sun Belt, and Conference USA. The ACC, SEC, and Big 12 are playing, but chances of BYU getting a game from one of those teams looks slim.
