Vegas released its week 5 college football spreads and opened with #22 BYU as a 22-point favorite over the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. The line already moved to BYU -23 within 5 minutes of opening and BYU -25 within 20 minutes. The over/under for the game opened at 54.
BYU closed as a 1-point favorite at Navy and 14.5-point favorite versus Troy, so the Vegas oddsmakers seems to taking note and factoring in how dominant BYU has looked. Louisiana Tech is 2-0 on the season with wins over Southern Miss and Houston Baptist. The Bulldogs finished 10-3 last season and capped off the year with a bowl win over Miami. They lost their starting QB from last season but return 1,000 yard rusher Justin Henderson. Henderson was preseason first team All-CUSA along with one of their starting offensive and defensive linemen.
The Bulldogs won at Southern Miss 31-30 in their season opener when they were down several players due to positive COVID tests and contract tracing. They beat FCS foe Houston Baptist 66-38 Saturday night to move to 2-0.
BYU-Lousiana Tech will play 7pm MT on ESPN2 at Lavell Edwards Stadium.
