BYU officially announced Tuesday afternoon that they will play at Gonzaga Thursday, 1/7 at 6:30pm MST on ESPN. This replaces BYU’s Thursday game versus Pacific, which was postponed due to COVID cases.

We first reported Tuesday morning that this game would happen — BYU’s official statement said that “this game will officially be a reschedule of the previously-scheduled Feb. 6 game between BYU and Gonzaga in Spokane. The Feb. 6 date for both BYU and Gonzaga is still to be determined as of now, as both programs and the WCC work on further modifications in the conference schedule.”

One source inside the program told Vanquish The Foe that the plan now is to have simply have the 2/6 game moved to Thursday, but BYU-Gonzaga could play 3 times this regular season depending on the COVID-19 situation within the WCC as the season progresses.

Gonzaga is 10-0 and has been ranked #1 the entire season. They have wins over #5 Iowa, #6 Kansas, #14 West Virginia, #22 Virginia, Auburn, and San Francisco. In short, Gonzaga is DOMINANT and this may be Mark Few’s best team ever.

Current KenPom odds give BYU a 6% chance to win and predict a 90-73 margin in favor of the Zags. BYU beat 29-0 Gonzaga in 2017 with a 1% chance to win, so anything is possible, right?
