BYU Men’s Volleyball Ranked 1st, Women 16th in Preseason Polls

BYU men’s volleyball was ranked 1st in the 2021 NVA/AVCA Preseason Poll, following a 2020 season that saw the Cougars go 17-1 and end the season ranked 1st.

The Cougars return everyone from the 2020 squad, and are ranked above #2 Hawaii, #3 UC Santa Barbara, #4 Long Beach State and #5 Lewis. BYU went 3-1 in 2020 against 2021’s Top 5 ranked teams, including a sweep over then #1 Hawaii.

The women’s volleyball team was ranked 16th in the Top 25 Poll. The Cougars finished 2019 ranked 17th, and have been ranked in the Top 25 for 106 consecutive weeks. Conference opponent San Diego came in at #23, while rival Utah came in at #10.

BYU Women’s Volleyball will begin their conference season on January 26 at Portland — no non-conference schedule has been released yet. The men’s schedule should be released soon, according to BYU Athletics’ official site.
