BYU climbed to number 10 after a 5-0 start, but dropped to 19 in the AP Poll and 20 in the Coaches Poll after the home loss to Boise State.
This is the fourth consecutive week BYU is ranked after they entered the polls in week 3 with a win over Utah. BYU’s best win is over 5-1 Arizona State, who climbed to number 18 after their win over Stanford.
BYU will get a tough road test this week versus Baylor, who is 5-1 after a blowout win over West Virginia. The Bears sit just outside the AP Poll at number 28. Baylor has a balanced offense under former OC Jeff Grimes and are much improved after a 2-7 year in 2020.
No other BYU opponents are in the AP Top 25. Washington State moved 3-3 after a win over Oregon State and Virginia is 4-2 after a close road win over Louisville. BYU’s last opponent, USC, is 3-3 after getting walloped by Utah.
