BYU received one first place vote. The 10 coaches voted and they aren’t allowed to vote for their own team, so Gonzaga coach Mark Few voted BYU number 1.
BYU finished second in the WCC last season and Alex Barcello was named to the first team while Matt Haarms and Brandon Averette were on the second team. Caleb Lohner was on the All-Freshman team, and received enough respect from coaches to be voted preseason first team. Caleb averaged 7 points and 7 rebounds last season, and really improved his 3-point shooting during WCC play and shot over 40% from three in conference play.
Alex Barcello was a All-American Honorable Mention after averaging 16.1 points, 4.3 assists and shooting a blistering 48% from three.
BYU tips off the regular season November 9 versus Cleveland State, and will play a closed-door scrimmage at Cal later this month.
