#19 BYU will go into Waco Saturday afternoon to take on the 5-1 Baylor Bears. BYU is coming off its first loss of the season to Boise State while the Bears are coming off a blowout win over West Virginia.
We round up the betting lines and various computer projections prior to Saturday’s game. The game will kickoff at 2:30 central time on ESPN.
After opening as a 3-point underdog, BYU is up to a 5.5-point underdog as of this writing. The line had gotten up to Baylor -6.5. The over/under for the game is set at 50.5. Draft Kings posted a look-ahead line where BYU was favored by 1.5 points days prior to the Boise State game, and that line quickly turned after Baylor’s blowout win over West Virginia and BYU’s loss. Baylor as a home favorite makes sense, but a 7-point swing in favorite of the Bears in a week seems like a lot with no new injuries.
BYU dropped from 24 to 37 after the loss to Boise State. Baylor comes in at number 25. Factoring home field advantage, Sagarin favors Baylor by about 6 points.
The Billingsley rankings still love BYU, ranking the Cougars at 11 after having them at 6 last week. They had BYU at 8 to start the season. They have Baylor at 22 and favor the Bears by half a point.
ESPN’s FPI rankings have BYU at 48 and Baylor 26. They give BYU a 26.7% win probability. As of now this is the last game BYU is an underdog until the season finale at USC.
