We're throwing it back to 1966 and debuting "THE VIRGIL" ⚪️ pic.twitter.com/l992S46jsy
This will be the first time BYU’s worn the royal lids since they debuted them in the season opener versus Arizona. The uniform combination is a nod to BYU’s 1966 team and former BYU QB great Virgil Carter.
This will be the fourth time BYU has worn royal blue this season — BYU won the previous royal games versus Arizona, Arizona State, and Utah State. The next time BYU is expected to wear royal is the season finale at USC where they will wear the royal lids for the third time with white jerseys and royal pants. They are expected to wear the navy lids one more time at Georgia Southern with white jerseys and white pants.
BYU-Virginia will kick off Saturday night at 8:15 pm MT on ESPN2.
