Casey Brown Player Preview
A walk-on returned missionary, Brown got home in May from his mission in Argentina and San Jose. As a high school senior in 2019, Brown was 6A Region First Team All State, averaging 16.8 points per game. In high school, Brown did a lot of his damage off the bounce attacking the basketball and hitting catch-and-shoot threes. He also has quick hands on defense, averaging over two steals per game his senior year.
Player Comp: Craig Cusick
Like Brown, Cusick was a walk on for BYU during his two season in Provo. Cusick didn’t put up big numbers, but he was part of the rotation and was a steady presence at point guard. Cusick is best known for his game-winning put back versus Utah State. Brown has a lot of guys ahead of him on the roster, but if he stays around he could develop into a Cusick-like player.
2021-2022 Expectations: End of Bench
As a freshman right off his mission, Brown just has too many guys ahead of him. This season is a great chance from him to learn from veteran guards Alex Barcello and Te’Jon Lucas.
