BYU Falls To Boise State, Suffers First Loss of Season

NCAA Football: Boise State at Brigham Young Rob Gray-USA TODAY Sports

BYU lost the turnover battle 4-0 and couldn’t stop Boise State in key moments in a 26-17 loss for BYU’s first loss of the season.

BYU ran out to a 10-0 lead, but 2 first half fumbles in BSU territory took BYU out of its rhythm and led to 23 unanswered for BSU points. Three fumbles and nine penalties doomed BYU after BYU had largely won the turnover and penalty battle all season.

BYU also surprisingly lost the line of scrimmage, as Boise State was able to run the ball after coming into the game with one of the worst rush offenses in the nation.

Jaren Hall had a decent day after coming off injury with 302 passing yards on 22-37 passing. He wasn’t quite as sharp as we’ve seen and threw an ill advised pick on BYU’s last offensive play when BYU could have settled for a field goal.

BYU is now 5-1 on the season and will head to Waco to take on 5-1 Baylor, who will likely be ranked after blowing out West Virginia today.
