Today’s game versus Idaho State is the last home game of the season and Senior Day. BYU has only three seniors listed on its roster, but many other players who have been in the program for 4-5 years but aren’t listed as seniors due to the “free” COVID year last season that froze everyone’s eligibility.

In addition to the three seniors, BYU will honor 11 players who could potentially leave after this season. Kalani said earlier in the week that BYU will honor these players in case they do leave, but that coaches will attempt to bring many of these guys back for one more year.

One notable name is redshirt sophomore Tyler Allgeier. Tyler has been in the program for four years after redshirting as a freshman and having his 2020 year sophomore year “frozen.” He would be a redshirt junior this season under normal circumstances. Tyler may elect to leave to the NFL after this season after a spectacular season.

Other notable players are Lopini Katoa, Gunner Romney, Neil Pau’u, James Empey and others who have all been at BYU 4-5 years and may be ready to move on.

BYU will honor all these players today to give them a proper send off in case they do leave, and then Kalani and the staff will try to recruit some of these guys back for next season.

It is notable that BYU is not honoring all juniors who would be seniors this year under normal circumstances. Some of those players include Chaz Ah You, D’Angello Mandell, Malik Moore, and others.
