NCAA Basketball: Brigham Young at San Diego State Orlando Ramirez-USA TODAY Sports

The 10-day layoff didn’t phase BYU as they ran over Pacific 80-52 Thursday night in Stockton, California. Pacific was ranked 123 in NET coming into the game, making them a Quad 2 win for the Cougars.

Caleb Lohner found his shooting stroke and finished with a career high 19 points to go along 9 rebounds. Lohner was 6-8 from the field and 5-6 from three-point range, continuing his deep ball prowess after starting the season 0-13 from three. Alex Barcello added 15 points and 5 assists and backcourt mate Brandon Averette chipped in 10 points and 7 assists. Trevin Knell was the high man off the bench with 15 points.

BYU shot out to a 38-26 halftime lead and didn’t relent in the second half. The Cougars went to double OT versus Pacific a few weeks in Provo but completely dominated the Tigers this time around. Turnovers have been an Achilles heel for this team and BYU responded with only 8 turnovers. BYU had one of its best three-point shooting nights of the season, finishing 13-27 (48% from deep).

BYU moves to 16-5 with the win and 7-3 in WCC play. BYU stays on the road on Saturday at LMU before closing the WCC regular season next week with a pair of home games versus San Francisco and St. Mary’s.
