BYU football announced on Monday that they are in an agreement with Ole Miss of the SEC and Dixie State to play on future dates.
The Rebels of Ole Miss will visit Provo in September of 2028 and BYU will return the trip to Oxford, MS that following year. The two teams played in 2011 in Oxford, BYU’s first year of independence. In fact, it was their first ever game as an independent. BYU beat Ole Miss 14-13 in that matchup, thanks to a Jake Heaps passing touchdown and then a fumble recovery returned for a score by Kyle Van Noy with just five minutes left in the game.
BYU now has three different SEC schools on future schedules from 2022 to 2029 including Arkansas in 2022 and 2023 and Tennessee in 2023.

Dixie State is already slated to come to Provo in 2022. This agreement pits the Trailblazers against the Cougars again in 2024.
Dixie State became a Division 1 program this season, as an FCS independent and just started their season after being delayed due to COVID. They defeated Tarleton State for their first win as a Division 1 school.
Dixie State marks the 10th game on the 2024 slate, leaving two open spots.
