The Diamond Head Classic will be held December 22, 23, and 25 in Honolulu and be shown on ESPN networks. Each team will play 3 games in the tournament. BYU last played in the event in 2015 where they lost to Harvard in the first round game and then won their final two games versus New Mexico and Northern Iowa to finish 5th.
BYU is one of two teams that were in the NCAA tournament field along with Liberty. Liberty was a 13 seed in the NCAA tournament and should bring back many of their top contributors, including their leading scorer. Stanford is the other team that could boost BYU’s strength of schedule. They finished 14-13 last season and #57 in KenPom. New Mexico State is coming off a down year but they are typically a top 100 team and the best team in the WAC.
