Chandler is a consensus 4-star recruit and the 53rd-ranked recruit in the 2022 class according to 247 Sports rankings. Chandler has had one of the best summers of any recruit and has rocketed up the rankings. His recruiting is reminding me of Lone Peak Alum Frank Jackson.
BYU coaches have been recruiting Chandler since before COVID and have hosted him and his family on an unofficial visit back in June. He’s also taken visits to Utah, Stanford and Arizona. His girlfriend came on his BYU visit and didn’t go on the other visits, so take that for what you will. Chris Burgess has been the coach recruiting Collin the hardest and has been on him for awhile now.
One thing that BYU has going for them is that Collin is planning to serve a mission right after high school. If he keeps those mission plans then that will only help BYU’s chances. If I had to pick right now, I would say Collin does not come to BYU, although I would not be surprised at all if he chooses BYU. All six schools are strong candidates. One source close to Collin told me that BYU not offering until June and him not growing up in a BYU family — his family is Utah fans — don’t help BYU’s cause, but they aren’t deal breakers, either.
However, BYU will be in right until the very end and they have a real shot. He is a top priority along with Jaxon Kohler in the 2022 class — you can read the full 2022 recruiting big board I published in early August. Gonzaga is a real player now that they have entered, and Stanford’s academics make them one of the top candidates for Collin as well. If Collin keeps his mission plans, then BYU will be in it until the very end. Collin would be a game changer for BYU’s program and is the type of guy BYU could build around.
I expect Collin to make a decision before his high school season starts late in the fall. You can watch highlights from Collin below.
