The Las Vegas Raiders announced on Monday evening that they will require proof of COVID-19 vaccination to attend home games at Allegiant Stadium beginning with the regular season opener on September 13. Naturally, many BYU and Arizona fans wondered if this would also apply to the game September 4th at Allegiant Stadium.

As it stands now, fans will not be required to provide proof of vaccination to enter the stadium for that game. I asked Will Kiss, the Raiders Senior Director of Media Relations, Monday night if this mandate would also apply to the BYU-Arizona game. Kiss told me, “The announcement tonight (Monday) only pertains to Raiders’ games.”

The Raiders and Allegiant Stadium also updated their COVID policy regarding non-Raiders games at the Stadium. They confirmed that the policy only applies to Raiders home game games and that attendees for all other events at Allegiant Stadium will be required to wear a mask.

For all other events at Allegiant Stadium: At this time, the vaccine requirement policy applies only to Raiders home games at Allegiant Stadium in keeping with the Governor’s State of Nevada Emergency Directive 049. The Raiders and Allegiant Stadium are currently evaluating any application of this policy to other events. For all other events at Allegiant Stadium, all individuals, regardless of vaccination status, must wear a face mask while inside the stadium. Individual events held at Allegiant Stadium may also implement heightened COVID-19 protocols, so please read all correspondence regarding an individual event carefully.

Please note: Allegiant Stadium’s COVID-19 protocols are subject to change as additional information is discovered or provided by the State of Nevada & the CDC.”

Protocols could be heightened, as the statement reads, so we’ll keep an eye on things for the next 17 days before the game. Partially vaccinated fans can attend Raiders games, they are just required to wear a mask while fully vaccinated fans are not. The Raiders are offering on-site vaccination prior to games so fans can receive the vaccine and attend the game with a mask. If vaccines are required for the BYU-Arizona game, something similar could be offered.
