BYU Releases Depth Chart Prior to Arizona Game

NCAA Football: Brigham Young at Arizona Casey Sapio-USA TODAY Sports

BYU released its first depth chart of the regular season prior to Saturday’s matchup versus Arizona. Full depth chart is below.

Most of the depth chart was widely expected. One thing at first glance is seeing Baylor Romney listed as the backup QB over Jacob Conover without an “or” designation. WR Puka Nacua has been struggling with a hamstring injury and some have speculated that he could miss time, but Kalani said during Monday’s press conference that he expects Puka to be ready to play Saturday. Puka and Samson have an “or” designation between them at one of the WR spots. Kalani said he expects all players on the depth chart to be available to play Saturday.

One position group up for grabs was at safety. Ed Lamb said that Chaz Ah You and Malik Moore would be the starting safeties versus Arizona and the depth chart confirmed that. Returnees D’Angello Mandell and Keenan Ellis are listed as the two starting cornerbacks, but BYU will play a lot of guys there. Oregon State transfer Kaleb Hayes and Utah State transfer Jakob Robinson will see time there along with returnee Isaiah Herron.

One position to watch will be right guard. BYU has an “or” designation between Connor Pay and Joe Tukuafu, both guys that have started games at OL in their careers. BYU has six offensive linemen that have started multiple games and then some young, unproven guys behind them. Interior offensive line seems to have a bit more depth than offensive tackle.

BYU plays Arizona 7:30 PST Saturday night in Las Vegas.
