BYU W Soccer smashes Marquette at home

BYU Women’s Soccer bounced back from their disappointing performance on Monday by smashing Marquette 7-0 on Thursday night at South Field.

It didn’t take the Cougars long to get on the board, as Olivia Wade finished in the 11th minute to open the scoring. Bella Folino added a second in the 21st minute, and Kayla Colohan added a third in the 34th minute. The Cougars took a 3-0 lead into the half.

In the 57th minute, a shot from Cam Tucker was deflected into the net for an own goal to extend the lead, and Brecken Mozingo added a fifth in the 62nd minute on a deflected shot as well.

The Cougars rotated all the starters for the remainder of the match, and two freshmen scored in the last 15 minutes to extend the lead to 7-0. Caroline Stringfellow scored on a loose ball after the Marquette goalkeeper blocked one shot, and Addie Gardner capped the came off with a calm finish in the 84th minute.

The Cougars improved to 3-2 on the season and 3-0 at home. The Cougars road woes have slowed them, but they have felt comfortable at South Field in front of the home crowd. The Cougars next match comes at Utah on Thursday in Salt Lake City.
