Oklahoma State Coach Mike Gundy addressed the media after OSU’s week one win. Toward the end of the 40-minute press conference, Gundy touched on Big 12 expansion for around five minutes and discussed each of the four schools — BYU, UCF, Cincinnati, and Houston — that are reportedly about to be invited.

Gundy had some nice praise when discussing BYU and the perception of the Cougars nationally.

“Coast to coast, people see BYU as a Power Five team. That logo. You would too, right? If you see that logo, people don’t really know that they’re an independent. People think that they’re tied into a Power Five conference.”

Gundy was a bit coy when discussing details of Big 12 expansion, but he said he would have a meeting with Oklahoma State administrators Wednesday where he will “be brought up to par and know more.” Gundy was glad that Houston is one of the four schools so that OSU and the rest of the Big 12 can keep a stronghold in Texas for recruiting. Multiple reports have surfaced that Big 12 expansion is imminent, with BYU as one of the four schools, and could become official as soon as this week.
