BYU Reaches Season High Mark in AP Poll after Non-Conference Play

BYU continues to climb in the rankings.

BYU reached its highest AP Poll ranking of the season as the Cougars moved from 14 to 12 in the latest poll released Monday. BYU has been ranked 6 consecutive weeks — surpassing the 5 weeks BYU was ranked in Mark Pope’s inaugural 2019-2020 season — and is the most weeks BYU has been ranked in a season since the Jimmer Fredette era. 12 ties the highest AP ranking in the Mark Pope era.

BYU stomped Wyoming Saturday to finish non-conference play 12-1. BYU is ranked 2 in NET and 3 in KenPom and leads the nation with a 28.8 point differential per game.

BYU opens Big 12 play when it hosts Cincinnati Saturday night in Provo. The Bearcats are 11-2 and boast a big frontline that leads one of the nation’s best rebounding teams. Six Big 12 teams are ranked in the AP top 25, headlined by Kansas at 2 and undefeated Houston at 3. Houston is one of 3 undefeated teams along with James Madison and Ole Miss.
