BYU Falls in AP Poll, Remains Ranked After Split

NCAA Basketball: Brigham Young at Central Florida Mike Watters-USA TODAY Sports

In a week where several ranked teams lost, BYU went from 18 to 20 in the latest AP Poll after splitting road games with Baylor and UCF. 8 Big 12 teams are in the top 25.

BYU is at 5 in the NET and 11 in KenPom. The Cougars have two Quad One games this week when they welcome Iowa State to the Marriott Center Tuesday and travel to Lubbock Saturday to play Texas Tech. Both teams climbed into the rankings this week.

Iowa State is 13-3 and entered the AP Poll this week ranked 24. The metrics are high on the Cyclones — ISU is ranked 9 in NET and 12 in KenPom. Texas Tech, meanwhile, is 14-2 on the year and one of two teams undefeated in Big 12 play. Texas Tech entered the AP Poll at 25.

Through 21 games of Big 12 play, home teams have ruled the day. Home teams are 15-6 and 8 of the 14 teams in the league having a losing conference record. BYU look to hold serve at home versus a tough Iowa State team before travelling to west Texas over the weekend.
