Jabari Parker will announce what college he will attend on Thursday, December 20 at 1 p.m. MT, according to a report from the Chicago Sun-Times.
Parker, the 2012 National Player of the Year, will announce his decision between Duke, BYU, Florida, Michigan State and Stanford.
It is said that Duke and Michigan State are the frontrunners to land Parker, but BYU has stuck around despite massive speculation as to why it remains on Parker's list.
Just his week, MaxPreps.com moved Lone Peak High School of Utah to #2 in its national rankings. Lone Peak features three BYU commits: Nick Emery, T.J. Haws, and Eric Mika, all of whom appear in top 100 recruiting lists. Ahead of Lone Peak at #1 is Parker's Simeon High School. More than anything, I think the talent BYU is bringing in would be a top consideration for Parker. The Lone Peak 3 plus Parker would be a nationally-ranked team vying for deep tournament runs (for as long as Parker stuck around).
While I think BYU is definitely an underdog in this battle, I think BYU has at least had more of a chance than national writers have considered.
Cross your fingers. A program-changer makes his choice.
