In a game that was controlled by BYU, the Cougars gave away a lead and ended up going into overtime with 12th ranked Ducks before losing 100-96. Jason Calliste came off the bench for Oregon and had a career night to lead the Ducks with 31. Haws was the leading scorer in the game with 32 while Eric Mika added 13.  Matt Carlino and Kyle Collinsworth added 15 each.

First Half

BYU came out scorching hot from the field and didn't trail in the first half.  With Tyler Haws scoring nine of the Cougars first 12 points, the Cougars took a 14-11 lead into the first TV timeout.  Haws ended the half with 18 points and Skylar Halford added 10.  Haws extending his streak of double digit scoring games to 26 only nine minutes into the game and helped the BYU gain their largest lead of the half, eight, with six minutes left.  The Cougars had a chance to push the halftime lead to eight but couldn't execute a play in the final seconds.  With under five seconds to go Halford dropped the ball down low to Eric Mika but with the pass a little off target, Mika couldn't bring the ball in and ended up falling down while trying to get the ball to someone and a shot was never attempted.

Second Half

In the second half the two teams came out just as aggressive as in the first and the Cougars started the scoring by getting the ball to Haws.  The lead slowly began to grow as the two teams battled and Kyle Collinsworth gave the Cougars their first double digit lead with just over 15 minutes left in the game.  Both teams cooled down for the first five minutes as BYU only shot 33% and Oregon shot 25%.  Oregon quickly cut the lead to three at 60-57 and forced BYU to stay aggressive.  The Cougars increased the lead back to six with a Collinsworth baseline dunk but Oregon wouldn't go away.  Missed free throws and unsuccessful layups continued to haunt the Cougars.  Matt Carlino had a tough night but hit a three point shot to put the Cougars up by seven before Oregon went on a quick 4-0 run to pull back within three.  With under five minutes to go, the Cougars held a six point lead but bad fouls on three-point attempts continued to put the Ducks at the line.  The Cougars had no answer for Jason Calliste as he continued to keep the Ducks in the game and hit shot after shot and free throw after free throw.  After Oregon pulled the game to within two, Carlino hit another three pointer and a couple of free throws to help extend it back to seven with just over two minutes in the game.  With sloppy play on both ends of the court, BYU continued to allow Oregon to stay in the game.  After a rushed possession by Carlino, the Ducks tied the game before a missed shot by BYU gave Oregon the last shot.  After a foul by Mika with less than two seconds in the game, the Ducks missed two free throws to send the game into overtime.

The Cougars started off the scoring in overtime on an inbounds layup by Carlino but Oregon was quick to tie.  With Nate Austin and Mika fouling out in regulation, the Cougars lost the size advantage and couldn't maintain the rebounding advantage and gave up second chance points.  The Ducks managed their first lead since starting 2-0 with 30 seconds left and that was all they would need as they came out with the win.
