North Texas (5-3) Came to Provo to take on BYU (7-2) in what turned out to be a solid Cougar win.

BYU likes to play fast and the Mean Green ran up and down the floor with the Cougars all night long. While BYU maintained a lead throughout the game, North Texas was competitive and stayed close through halftime.

Skyler Halford came alive with a career-high 16 points in the game, missing only one of his 3-point attempts. Tyler Haws could hardly miss in the first half and finished the game with a phenomenal 23 points. Matt Carlino had a quiet shooting night, but got a double-double with 10 rebounds and 11 assists.

BYU's Eric Mika and Nate Austin also recorded double-doubles on the evening. On the other end of the court, Maurice Aniefiok came off the bench and led North Texas with 11 points on the night. BYU's defense did not allow any other double digit scorer.

Some expected BYU to be a little more dominant in this match-up, but the Mean Green are an NCAA Tournament team. They prove their worth by turning BYU over 15 times (as opposed to  BYU's 12, most in the second half) throughout the game. However, BYU beat them in every other team statistic to take the 97-67 win.

BYU will now head back east for a Saturday match-up with 21st-ranked UMass. The Cougars game with the Minutemen will tip-off at 11:30 am Saturday in Springfield, Massachusetts on CBS Sports Network.
