Earlier Wednesday, Vanquish The Foe published an article concerning Steven Beo’s jersey number. Beo was wearing Mel Hutchins’ retired jersey number of 14 during the exhibition game against Seattle Pacific.
In the piece, I questioned why Beo was wearing Hutchins’ retired #14.
In response, BYU has told Vanquish The Foe that Beo’s use of the retired #14 was simply an oversight, and that the freshman is changing his jersey number to 10.
Going forward, this will be remembered as the answer to one of the most obscure trivia questions in BYU sports: Who is the only player to play a game in a retired jersey number after it was retired? Steven Beo.
Look for Beo to be in his new number for the exhibition game against BYU-Hawaii on Wednesday, Nov. 9, in the Marriott Center.
