He will join the Mavs' Summer League team with A.J. Hammons a 7-footer from Purdue who was drafted in the 2nd round of the NBA draft yesterday. Jameel Warney from Stony Brook, Chane Behanan from Louisville, who last played in Puerto Rico and Perry Ellis from Kansas all have also announced that they will compete on the Mavs summer league squad.
Kyle Collinsworth leaves BYU as the school’s all-time leader in rebounds and assists. He averaged 15.3 PPG, 8.2 RPG and 7.4 APG as a senior. As previously mentioned, Collinsworth also broke the NCAA record for career triple-doubles with 12 (the previous record was six).

More on Collinsworth
The three-time team captain brings many unique skills to the point guard position. His elite size and rebounding should be on display as he fights for a roster spot. Also, his excellent passing abilities will be utilized as he often sets up teammates and makes everyone around him better on the basketball court.
The big weaknesses NBA scouts have always listed when discussing Collinsworth’s NBA potential are his lack of a reliable jump shot and relative old-age compared to his draft eligible peers.
He will look to turn a solid summer league performance and productive offseason into a roster spot on the Dallas Mavericks by showing that he is more polished and ready to contribute then the many younger NBA prospects.
Here’s Dallas' upcoming Summer League schedule (all times Pacific):
- Saturday July 9th: 7:00 pm -- Dallas vs Miami
- Monday July 11th: 3:30 pm -- Dallas vs Toronto
- Tuesday July 12th: 3:00 pm -- Dallas vs Boston
