Fresh off his game-winning jumper to move BYU into the WCC semifinals, Tyler Haws has been named one of five finalists for the Jerry West Award, a brand-new piece of hardware given to the nation's best shooting guard.
The award is part of a new set of awards from the Basketball Hall of Fame, each one awarded to the best player at each position.
The Jerry West Award finalists are:
Tyler Haws - BYU
Ron Baker - Wichita State
Jerian Grant - Notre Dame
D'Angelo Russell - Ohio State
Buddy Hield - Oklahoma
It's interesting to look at how Haws stacks up statistically against the field, sitting in a good place to win the award. (Aside from the fact Haws' picture is next to "shooting guard" in the basketball reference guide.)
