College football rankings week 7: BYU drops out of AP and Coaches Top 25 polls

John Reed-USA TODAY Sports

After what was one of the craziest weekends in recent college football history, the Amway Coaches and Associated Press Top 25 polls look quite a bit different than it did a week ago. 11 teams in last week's Top 25 lost this past week, including five teams from the Top 10.

Unfortunately, BYU was one of the Top 25 casualties from this past week. The Cougars were upset by an unranked Utah State team on Friday night. The loss dropped BYU from the 18th in the AP and 19th in the Coaches to out of both polls. The Cougars did land in the "Others receiving votes" section, picking up 26 votes in the AP Poll and 16 votes in the Coaches Poll.

A few BYU opponents also made appearances in this week's "Others receiving votes" section. Cal received 6 votes in the AP and 4 votes in the Coaches. Virginia received a single vote in the AP.
