From Little Valley to Happy Valley, Riley Burt became the latest 2015 recruit to verbally commit to BYU on Monday night. Burt plays both running back and defensive back for Box Elder High School in Brigham City, Utah, about 100 miles north of Provo.

Burt has great size at 6'2" and 195 pounds, with a frame that looks like it can easily put on more weight. The coaching staff is not allowed to mention recruits' names, but Geoff Martzen and Nick Howell were both enthusiastic on Twitter about the same time that Burt announced his decision.
Locking up the Beehive with one of the best prospects in Northern Utah. Can play anywhere on the field... #2015chosenone #lockupthebeehive

As a running back Burt has a good vision of the field and follows his blockers well, with a great burst of speed to edge past defenders. He is also very capable of gaining extra yardage after absorbing contact, sometimes bowling defenders over. The running back stable is very strong at BYU for several years to come, which would work well for Burt if he chooses to serve an LDS mission. He also plays in the defensive backfield and could possibly see playing time sooner on that side of the ball. He is relatively new to defense, but shows promise there as well. He has a great ability to defend passes, as well as shed blockers to make a play.
Burt is a player who could legitimately play more than one position on each side of the ball. His commitment to play for BYU is a great pick up for the Cougars.
