Cougar Kickoff Countdown: 1 Day

We are finally just one day away from the kickoff.

George Frey

It only seems fitting to end the Cougar Kickoff Countdown with a short post about LaVell Edwards, who catapulted the BYU football program out of obscurity and into national prominence during the 1970's. 12 years after becoming the head coach, LaVell added a National Championship to his resume. His 257 career victories are seventh most all time for FBS coaches. His accolades include being inducted into the NCAA Hall of Fame (with five former players receiving the same honor), Paul "Bear" Bryant Lifetime Achievement Award, Utah Coach of the Century, 1984 Coach of the Year, and Cougar Stadium was renamed after him.

Check out some of these videos of LaVell Edwards and his legacy.
