BYU football recruiting: 2015 LB Gabe Reid announces commitment to Stanford

Reid made his decision public late Monday night.

Gabe Reid, a 2015 prospect from Provo, announced his commitment to Stanford on Monday night.

Reid is a 6-foot-2, 225 pound defender who played defensive end and outside linebacker in high school, and will likely play linebacker in college.

Reid is another Utah County prospect with family ties to BYU football. The talented Reid book-ended Timpview's defensive line with BYU commit Devin Kaufusi to wreak havoc on opposing offenses, helping Timpview to a third-straight state championship. Reid led the Thunderbirds in both total tackles (100) and sacks (16). He's likely to play linebacker in college.

Interestingly, on 2014's signing day, Timpview's signing day event featured Isaiah Nacua signing to BYU. The event's agenda included an item for Reid to announce his commitment to BYU also, but it was nixed before the event started. Reid had offers from BYU, Stanford, Arizona, Arizona State, Washington, Washington State, Utah, and Utah State.
