Class of 2015 running back Charles West signed a National Letter of Intent with BYU on Wednesday, making his commitment to the Cougars official on signing day.
West is a three-star recruit on 247 Sports' composite (rating of 84.47) and held offers from Arkansas, Texas Tech, San Diego State, and SMU. The 5-foot-9, 182-pound West was also reported to be picking up steam with Texas A&M, but he verbally committed to BYU on Jan. 19.
West is an athlete BYU doesn't seem to land very often. Clocked with a 40 time of 4.45 seconds according to his 247 Sports profile, West racked up more than 1,400 rushing yards as a senior for the Coppell Cowboys.
The dynamic West is a prospect who could step into BYU's backfield and make an impact immediately, giving Mark Atuiaia and Robert Anae a home-run threat to join with Jamaal Williams' toughness. Into the future, West's speed should complement the physicality of transfer Squally Canada.
