Riley Burt, a 6-foot-1, 190-pound running back and cornerback signed with BYU on Wednesday's National Signing Day. The running back is a three-star prospect on 247 Sports' composite with a rating of 81.66.

Burt comes from the under-recruited terrain of Northern Utah and Box Elder High in Brigham City. While he is not on record by recruiting services as holding any other offers, Burt told Vanquish The Foe last summer he was being pursued by Utah, Utah State, Boise State, and UNLV.

While the native Alabaman was originally unsure of his position at BYU, Burt was most recently told coaches wanted him to play running back. BYU is always looking for secondary depth, however, and the commitment of Charles West may change Burt's status as a running back. Either way, Burt possesses the size and strength to be either a solid running back or a member of the secondary.

I had the chance to see Burt play this season, and while he is known as a sprinter, I came away impressed with his level of physicality. Much like Jamaal Williams, he runs with more toughness and physicality than you'd typically expect from someone of his size/speed. Not to discount his speed, however; Burt was always a home run threat any time he touched the ball for the Box Elder Bees.

Whether on offense or defense, Burt will have the speed and toughness to succeed.
