Devin Kaufusi, a 6-foot-7, 220-pound defensive end from Timpview High School in Provo, UT has signed a letter of intent to play football for BYU.
BYU athletics are in Devin's blood, as he is the younger brother of Bronson (football) and Corbin (basketball), and son of defensive line coach Steve Kaufusi.
Kaufusi is a three-star prospect with a 247Sports composite rating of .8392 who committed immediately after being offered in September of 2013. He did not get much recruiting attention from other schools due to his early commitment and strong family ties to the program, but is a definite talent on the end of the line.
He contributed 80 tackles, 14 sacks, and two recovered fumbles during Timpview's 2014 state title campaign. He has a big and wide frame like his brothers, and he very easily could gain more weight and play on the defensive line, or he could stay trimmed and rely on his speed as an outside linebacker. He has good hands and uses them effectively to throw off blockers. Scouts also point to quick feet and a general athleticism that allow him to generate amazing closing speed off the edge.
