With the NFL Draft dust settling and teams starting to look towards the future, one former BYU Cougar linebacker will be suiting up and continuing his football career. Former Cougar Alani Fua signed as an UDFA with the Arizona Cardinals.

Despite the struggles faced by Fua in his last year at BYU, he still impressed NFL coaches with his body of work. It doesn't hurt that he has the size and speed that teams look for in a defender. Not only does his career at BYU paint a positive picture for the NFL, but his Pro Day numbers helped as well. Not only did he improve his numbers from the combine, but he managed to improve his stock as he was rated 11th out of 177 outside linebackers by nfldraftscout.com.

The Cardinals should get pretty good value from Fua considering they didn't have to use a draft pick on him. Not only do they get a 6-5 238 lb linebacker that can run the 40 in 4.59, but they get a proven leader. Fua takes his job seriously and will lead by example on the field and in the locker room. Don't expect Fua to step on the field and become a star but through his hard work he could have a tremendous career if given a shot. Watch for him to get a number of looks in the pre-season as he fights to reward the Cardinals for their trust in him.
