The Cougars season hasn't started the way they had hoped. Saturday night, they look to get their first win of the season as they take on the Boise State Broncos.
Listen to my Interview with Ed Gantt about the challenges facing the Cougars hockey team, where the team is improving, having one home game over two months, and an exciting development to help recruit future players to BYU.
In the last meeting between the two teams, BYU was leading 2-1 after the first period on the strength of goals by winger Brett Heldt and defensivemen Jake Nelson. In the 2nd period, Boise State's Justin Videen scored a hat trick. With 2:30 left in the 2nd, BYU winger Noah Frost scored to narrow the score to 4-3. In the final 2:30, the Broncos scored 2 quick goals to end the period with a 6-3 lead. The 3rd period was all Boise State as the final score was 10-4.
Boise State has had a very good season thus far as they have played their way to a 9-1 record. The Cougars challenge tonight will be to limit power play opportunities and odd man rushes, while finding their way into the dirty areas of the ice to collect rebounds and create scoring chances.
Catch all the action LIVE tonight as the broadcast starts at 7:00 from the Peaks Ice Arena! Intermissions feature a know the rules segment, hockey song of the night, and game recaps!
