PROVO, Utah -- This weekend Brigham Young University's hockey team was scheduled to play two games at Peaks Ice Arena against #4 Boise State University. These games were scheduled to be played on Friday and Saturday at 7:00, but will not take place.
BYU was able to find a game Friday night to replace the vacancy. The Cougars will be traveling to Logan, Utah to play #9 Utah State in the George S. Eccles Ice Center. The puck will drop at 7:00 PM. It will mark the third matchup between to two teams this season. The Aggies won 5-4 in the first game in Provo and also won 6-3 on October 10 in Logan.
BYU and USU were able to reach an agreement on Friday's game as Coach Gantt told VanquishTheFoe.com:
"Fortunately for us, Utah State had an open date and we wanted to play, but it wasn't in our budget to add another road trip. So we made an agreement. We will come to Logan, if they covered our bus fees. Utah State agreed and we look forward to Friday's game."
Concerning the matchup against the Aggies Gantt added:
"The team is really excited about this chance to play Utah State. They have a good team and they always play well at home. Still, we feel like we've played them very close. Its been a very tough season for the team so far, but the boys have not lost any of their fire or competitiveness. They know the wins will come as long as they continue to work hard and believe in the systems and each other. I'm very proud of this team, and it would be great for them to get a win in Logan on Friday night."
The Cougars have played 14 games this season with only 4 games taking place in Provo. Instead of 13 home games, BYU will have just 11. The next home game for the Cougars will be on January 8th against Utah State, which will mark the beginning of 7 home games over their final 11 games of the season.
