BYU in the NFL - Week 11: Ziggy Ansah adds another sack to his season total

Tim Fuller-USA TODAY Sports

Ziggy Ansah  was the only former Cougar to see significant playing time on either the offensive or defensive side of the ball in Week 11. Ansah continued to establish himself as one of the best pass rushers in the league with another strong performance this past week. Ansah had a tackle, a sack, a tackle for loss, a QB hit, and also drew a holding call in the end zone that resulted in a safety in the Lions' win over the Raiders.

Ansah now has eight sacks on the season, which ties his career high for a season and keeps him among the top five sack leaders in the NFL. Ansah will get to showcase his skills again this morning in the Lions' annual Thanksgiving Day game at 10:30 am MT on Fox.

Ansah's teammate Kyle Van Noy didn't pick up any stats for the Lions this past week, but he did take some time to give back to the community by showing off his waffle making skills.

De'Ondre Wesley saw his first NFL regular season action this week, seeing time on four special teams plays. Baltimore signed Wesley off of its practice squad just a few ago.

In some unfortunate BYU alumni news, Kansas City released Hebron Fangupo from its practice squad last week.

Here's how all the BYU alumni in the NFL performed for their respective teams in Week 11:

Dennis Pitta (Ravens) #88: Pitta is out for the season as he continues to recover from the hip injury he suffered last season.

Ziggy Ansah (Lions) #94: Ansah played 42 snaps, picking up one tackle, one sack, one tackle for loss, and a QB hit in Detroit's 18-13 victory over Oakland.

Kyle Van Noy (Lions) #53: Van Noy played 24 snaps mostly on special teams and did not record any stats in Detroit's 18-13 win over Oakland.

John Denney (Dolphins) #92: Denney played nine special teams snaps as the long snapper in Miami's 14-24 loss to Dallas.

Uani 'Unga (Giants) #47: 'Unga did not play this week due to New York having a bye week.

Dallas Reynolds (Giants) #61: Reynolds did not play this week due to New York having a bye week.

Daniel Sorensen (Chiefs) #49: Sorensen played 26 snaps mostly on special teams and did not record any stats in Kansas City's 33-3 drubbing of San Diego.

Alani Fua (Cardinals) #59: Fua played 22 special teams snaps and did not record any stats in Arizona's 34-31 victory over Cincinnati.

De'Ondre Wesley (Ravens) #77: Wesley played four special teams snaps and did not record any stats in Baltimore's 16-13 win over St. Louis.

Cougars currently on NFL practice squads: Rob Daniel (Packers) and Paul Lasike (Bears).
